It's more difficult to write about things I have done than things what I haven't done (never been on the moon) and more difficult to tell about things I like than things I hate (communism and power metal) so it's just better to tell briefly something about me and my musical awakening. I was brought to life in a little place called Nurmes and have been here since April 1979. My parents moved to Ähtäri when I was two years old because Nurmes was constantly threatened by bears and wolves and wasn't so safe place to live. After many sleepless nights I decided to go along. My first instrument was a guitar that I got from my father. Back then I was too young to appreciate that kind of gift and guitar ended it's short life as a sled. My second guitar was also a present from my parents and as all grateful sons I decided to smash that to pieces. They'll never learn. As a first grader I was forced to learn how to play recorder and because of it's ultimate endurance and it's diabolical sound recorder is probably the deadliest weapon man has ever created. After those musical journeys (and many others) I decided to put music aside for a while. After hearing Master of Puppets and Appetite for Destruction I wanted to play guitar like Slash but was forced to buy bass because band we founded (Falmers) had already two guitarists, Ilkka & Tuukka. When Falmers broke up due to musical differences Ilkka asked me to play guitar in a band called Emulaattori where he played bass. It was my first contact with Ville who was back then much better guitarist than I and crushed my dream to become a famous guitarist. Not to mention how much better he is now. My last job as a guitarist was in a band called Dollypop that played progressive rock. At the same time I started to play drums in a doom band Sheol. After those bands we founded TMF and it was my first contact with microphone. Inspired by RATM we founded Conspiracy Within. I was now forced to play bass as Hannu was on guitar, Ville on mic and Tuukka on drums. As those bands are now more or less on eternal hold I haven't played in a band since. I have heard a rumour that a guy looking just like me can be seen with bass on stage but people see a lot of things. After long winter came the spring and Noumena was founded. The first time for us to play in same group. Finally we could play music that we have listened for years. When we were training for the first time I ended up as a singer mainly because I was the worst musician in this group. In this journey I'm responsible for growling and some lyrics. I consider myself as a balancing force and try to get things arranged that are somewhat needed but would otherwise left without a notice. I have never considered myself as a listener who knows a lot about music. As mentioned earlier I know what I hate even if I know nothing about it so it's easier to list records that have made the difference than to list bands because there are many good bands and because usually bands tend to release bad records now and then.
