Noumena releases new single – bittersweet “Murhenäytelmä” reflects on heroism

Noumena, melodic death metal band hailing from Finland, have released a new single Murhenäytelmä (“Tragedy”). The song combines both catchy melodies and melancholy, common to Noumena’s style.

- I wanted to write a kind of simple and melancholic song, which has upbeat and great guitar melodies from the beginning to the end. I can’t recall the details of the writing process, but probably it was a product of creeping autumnal bleakness, comments guitarist Markus Hirvonen.

The song asks, what it takes to be a hero, and what should we think about the death of a hero nowadays.

- F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote “Show me a hero and I’ll write you a tragedy”. There can’t be one without another. I wanted to question the slaughtering of young lives. I finished the lyrics by the end of 2021, but Russia’s invasion to Ukraine made Tragedy too topical and creepy, laments bassist Hannu Savolainen.

Murhenäytelmä is engineered and mixed by Samu Oittinen at Fantom Studio, mastered by Mika Jussila at Finnvox during spring 2022. Cover art by Tiina Rikala and lyric video by Ville Lamminaho.

During 2023 Noumena begin touring again after Covid-19, and concentrate on writing and recording new material.

Murhenäytelmä is now available on digital music services. The lyric video is available in YouTube:
