I was born in January 1979 in a small town called Ähtäri. I have been closely connected to music since the age of 7 when I went to school. On the first six years of school I was on a musically oriented class where we sang and played a lot and did all kinds of performances. Antti and Ilkka were on the same class as I was. When I was 9 or so I started to play clarinet and to this day I don´t know why. Maybe my parents had something to do with it. Anyway, I gave up on the clarinet after a few months. I started to play guitar at the age of 12. I learned my first chords with Ilkka´s father´s guitar. At the time I listened to bands like Scorpions, Bon Jovi and other 80´s greatest crap. The band that somewhat changed my life musically was Guns n´ Roses. Slash was a major source of inspiration for me in my early years of guitar playing. After GNR I became a huge Metallica (Hetfield & Hammett) fan and I really got into metal music. Along the way bands like Machine Head, Amorphis, Megadeth, Edge of Sanity, In Flames, Opeth, Soilwork and The Gathering have influenced me greatly. My first real band was Inferion where I teamed up with Ilkka and Ville to play some heavy metal at the age of 15. This was the first band where I tried out my songwriting skills. We did two excellent demos but Inferion slowly faded away though it never broke up. Actually Ville, myself and Inferion drummer Harri have done some re-recordings last year of the old Inferion song just for fun. After Inferion I played in suchs bands as TMF (bass) and Conspiracy Within (drums). Then came the year of all years when Noumena was formed in the spring of 1998. Antti, Ville, Ilkka, Hannu and I have been great friends for many, many years and played together in various bands. But after the birth of Noumena I have been confident that this is the one band that will take us further than any other. In Noumena my tasks include guitar playing in all of its forms, songwriting and I also do some backing vocals on gigs.
